One of the questions I was asked over the weekend was “Why am I launching the Jump Start Digestion program in November? I know what she means. We are so used to programs beginning in January with the start of New Year or in the spring like we are coming out of a long winter slumber and are now ready to do something beneficial for ourselves.

There are usually two mindsets, we find ourselves adopting, when we plan our strategy for the holiday season:

  1. I am not going to overeat this year. I am going to resist all temptations, no matter what and maybe just maybe,  I will not eat so much even if I fail occasionally.

Or

  1. I am just going to eat what I want and relax, enjoy myself and not worry about it until January.

But what if there was a third mindset?

What if, instead of stressing one way or another, you knew how to best feed your body under all circumstances?

What if your body physically told you when you have had enough and it was no kidding – it really meant it? Not intellectually, which is how most of us do it – we know we have had enough because we know the amount we should eat or think we should eat.

What I am talking about is the scenario where you have no more desire to eat this amazing, delicious, scrumptious food you are being served because the body is satisfied. You are not stuffed. You are satisfied.

This is something we never talk about when it comes to eating – what it means to be truly satisfied by food or a meal. Satisfaction means you do not need anymore, you do not want any more and as good as the food was, there is no desire to have one more bite. You say to yourself: “Maybe tomorrow I will have some more if I feel like it or not”

Think about it. How great would it be to just eat whatever you like through the season and never have any regrets?

Successful eating means that our body has received the information as to what we are eating and how much and has had the time and ability to let us know that it has received what it is looking for. 

This is a process we have naturally but most of us have lost the ability to understand the natural cues our body is capable of sending us.
